Pirastro Chorda violin strings are authentic strings for Baroque instruments. They have a very low string tension and, as a result, a comfortable left-hand feeling. The Chorda E, A, and D strings are plain gut strings, while the G string is wound. They are designed for 440Hz tuning, for 415Hz tuning Pirastro recommends using the high-tension variant. Altering the gauge by 1/4 PM changes the tension by 3%.

The standard Chorda G strings are silver-plated. However, there is a G plain copper version available in three gauges in steps of 1/2 PM and it has a darker sound than the standard G string.

At the tailpiece end of the strings, the E, A and D strings are without a knot and the G string has a knot.
