The Westbury cello is a very popular cello and represents excellent value for money. The cello is greatly improved with our Luthier setup and punches well above its weight as a result. We offer further optional improvements and upgrades with our configurator, which increase the instrument’s performance.
Handmade and hand varnished by Eastman Strings as a VC200, the Westbury cello is available as either a stand-alone instrument or the option to complete your ideal outfit. The Westbury cellos are fitted with quality ebony fittings, French Despiau bridge and factory strings.
Types of Setup
We offer two different levels of Westbury cello setup;
Shop setup: We give the cello a visual inspection, stand the bridge and tension the factory strings. This is the type of setup you typically get from a high-street general music shop.
Our Luthier setup: This is a comprehensive setup carried out by our Luthier in the workshop. The cello will go through a thorough ground-up setup, including all the necessary adjustments needed to transform the cello into a much more playable instrument.
Although shop setup is better than most internet retailers offer, we would always recommend having a proper workshop setup carried out on a cello as the resulting difference in playability is huge. Whoever plays the cello will make progress more quickly, giving them a significant head start.
Strings: We can offer a string upgrade from the standard steel factory strings.
