As word of our excellent cello and double bass hire and rental service has spread we have been experiencing hire and rental requests from areas further afield from our Derbyshire location, such as London, Birmingham and Bristol.
The transport of double basses and cellos requires great care. Obviously we couldn’t use the Royal Mail or parcel companies because of size and damage risk, so initially to meet the increased demand we used same day couriers. Although this was expensive and far from ideal as the drivers were unfamiliar with string instruments and how to handle them. In some instances, the instruments were co-loaded which increased the risk of damage. In addition to this some of our customers expressed a wish to have the instrument handed over with some advice and not just delivered.
To cope with the increase in demand for our service, over a larger geographical area and to provide our customers with a first class more personal service, we decided to operate our own van.
Our van delivers instruments around the UK every week with our customers getting an estimated time of arrival, so they don’t have to wait at home all day. Customers can request a phone call when we are a set time away from them or even track our progress to them live via satellite tracking. We can also guarantee the condition of the instrument when handed over will be perfect. When we deliver we can tune the instrument for you and answer any questions you may have, for example, how to care for it.
With our hire and rental service, we cater for beginners and professionals alike. Serving students both young and old, visiting professional artists, production companies, theatres and television companies.
