Curved head flutes have a curved head joint allowing younger players to reach the keys by moving the mouthpiece of the flute closer. This makes them ideal for younger players typically below the age of 9 or 10 years old. Although it is the player’s arm length that dictates the use of a curved head flute. Some curved head flutes also include a straight head to switch to as and when the child is able to reach the key-work using the straight head.
